Pedro started at EFRAG in January 2023, joining its Sustainability Reporting leadership team as Environment Lead. He has 25 years of experience working on environmental matters and business. Before joining EFRAG he worked for 13 years at CDP: first as Technical Director (2009-2018) overseeing CDP data, questionnaires, guidance and scoring methodologies; and after, as an Advisor to CDP executive team (2019-2022). CDP is a not-for-profit organization promoting a global disclosure system for companies, investors, cities, States, and regions to manage their environmental impacts.
Pedro participated as a GHG accounting and sustainability expert in multiple working groups that led the creation of the CDSB Framework, Integrated Reporting <IR>, WRI Scope 2 guidance and ISO 14064-1 revision, among other standards. He is co-founder of the Science Based Targets Initiative, RE100 and ACT – Assessing low-Carbon Transition initiative (now part of the WBA) and have worked closely with UNFCCC on topics related with corporate climate action and sustainability data. He has published articles both in general media (The Guardian, Publico), as well as peer-reviewed journal (Nature climate change, Sustainability Accounting, Management and Policy Journal).
Pedro also worked in the private sector as a sustainability consultant and in public administration implementing the Integrated Prevention and Pollution Control Directive and the EU Emissions Trading System, both at the Portuguese Environmental Agency.
He is an environmental engineer and has a MSc in Engineering and Innovation Management, both at Instituto Superior Técnico (Lisbon).
