Ms. María Salamero

Sustainability Director at CELSA Group

Maria Salamero Sansalvadó is the Head of Sustainability at CELSA Group- a position she has held since September 2022- a leading European steel group and a benchmark in low-emission circular steel production.

With a background in industrial engineering, Maria is deeply passionate about sustainability and innovation as key drivers of meaningful change in the industry.

Over the course of 25 years, she has held various roles within the Agbar Group (now Veolia), taking on responsibilities across operations, technology, R&D, people development and learning, communication, institutional relations, and sustainability in the water sector.

In addition, from June 2022 to 2026, Maria has served as President of the Industrial Engineering Association of Catalonia and, since June 2026, she is the Dean of the College of Industrial Engineers.

She also is a Trustee of the Fundación Empresa y Clima, and a member of the Institute for Sustainability Leadership at IESE, where she actively contributes to responsible leadership and the sustainable transformation of the business landscape.
