Santiago Cuesta-López is General Manager of the private non-profit Foundation ICAMCyL: International Research Center in Advanced Materials and Raw Materials of Castilla y Leon and General Manager and Executive member of the Iberian Sustainable Mining Cluster.
Spanish chair as Member State in the Operational Groups within the EC European Innovation Partnership in Raw Materials, named by the Spanish permanent Embassy in Brussels.
Awarded Doctor Honoris Causa in September 2021 by the University of Miskolc (Hungary) in view of his contribution to internationalization and Innovation Ecosystems. Awarded as ‘Physicist of Excellence’ by the National College of Physics in 2019, in view of his achievements as professional, and his international career on innovation.
Dr. S. Cuesta has been also awarded with more than 10 international prizes, including the most prestigious, as the National Nuclear Society, The postdoctoral prize “Marcel-Merieux”, the National grant “Ramón y Cajal” or the Spanish Ministry of Economy “Intensification in research”.
From 2012, he has attracted and directed more than 50 EU projects, implying > 15 M € with his research lines and activities in EU FP7/H2020/Horizon EU projects (15 EU projects as EU coordinator, including a FET-OPEN project), having as global result a mobilization of > 200 M €. He has authored/co-authored more than 70 JCR publications and 80 technical communications to industry.
