Ms. Isis Riquelme

CEO/Founder of Chucaw, social innovator, environmental educator and socio-environmental activist

Isis Riquelme is a Chilean environmental educator, socio-environmental activist, social innovator and entrepreneur. At 17, she created Plan B, the first environmental education system in Latin America. At 21, she co-founded Chucaw, an innovation and technology startup for prediction, monitoring, adaptation and resilience to extreme weather events.

In 2022, she was recognised as an ambassador of the Escazú Agreement in Chile for her contribution to environmental human rights. In 2023, United Nations Youth recognised her as one of the 500 young people contributing to the achievement of the SDGs, highlighting her work in Chucaw around SDGs 11 and 5. She was also trained by the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a young climate negotiator and was elected youth and children’s advisor to the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2023-2027).

In 2023 and 2024, she was selected by IOM and the Global Climate Mobility Centre as a climate mobility delegate and young negotiator, supporting climate policy negotiation during COP28. Previously, she was chosen by the UK as a young Latin American to deliver the keynote speech at COP26, actively participating in youth environmental advocacy at COP26 and COP27.

Since 2019, she has been part of Fridays For Future Chile, Tremendas and GYBN Chile (Montreal Agreement youth group), youth organisations that promote climate action, acting as spokesperson or coordinator and in charge of public policy formulation in different periods.

In terms of climate mobility, I have been at the forefront in creating innovative solutions to its challenges. Allocating resources to reduce the vulnerability of communities and businesses to disasters. Contributing to the formulation of policy recommendations for the prevention and identification of areas exposed to the effects of the climate crisis that require housing or territorial relocation.
