Dr. Miquel Rovira

Director of the Sustainability Area at Eurecat

Miquel Rovira holds a PhD in Science from the UPC and a degree in Chemistry, specializing in Chemical Engineering, from the UB.

He currently heads the Sustainability Area at Eurecat, the Technology Centre of Catalonia. He also serves on the boards of several associations, including the Catalan Bioenergy Cluster, the Catalan Water Partnership, and Water Reuse Europe. He is an independent board member of Aigües de Manresa SA and its Foundation, as well as an expert member of the Ecological Transition Committee of the Sabadell Chamber of Commerce and of the Academic Committee of the UPC’s PhD program in Natural Resources.

He has developed his entire professional career in the field of applied research and innovation focused on environmental sustainability, particularly in the areas of circular economy, climate resilience, and zero pollution. He has been involved in numerous national and international projects, most of them with business participation.

He is co-author of more than 100 publications, 67 of which have appeared in indexed journals, and has co-supervised five PhD theses. He has also served as a research project evaluator for AIDIT, CONICYT, and CORFO, and as an Associate Professor at the UPC from 1998 to 2012.
