Maria Walawender is a research fellow with the global team of the Lancet Countdown on Health and Climate Change, based in the Institute of Global Health at University College London. In her role, she coordinates an interdisciplinary collaborative of over 100 researchers and experts at institutions around the world and co-leads the design, drafting, and editing of the group’s indicator report, published annually in the Lancet. She manages data generated from over 50 indicators. Ms. Walawender analyzes and shares data for use in policy briefs, press releases, media requests, presentations, and ad hoc requests, and she leads the development and maintenance of the collaboration’s online data visualization platform. She works closely with the Lancet Countdown’s regional centres in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, Oceania, and SIDS on their technical work. She holds a Master of Science in Public Health from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
