Josep Garriga Sala holds a degree in Economics from the University of Barcelona.
He was the first Director of the Catalan Office for Climate Change (2004–2009). He also served as Head of Sustainable Development at the Department of the Environment of the Government of Catalonia, participating in the United Nations Climate Change Conference held in Milan in 2003 (COP 9).
Since then, he has continuously attended all United Nations Climate Change Conferences, including the most recent one in Belém (Brazil), COP 30 in 2025, making a total of 22 conferences.
He has participated as a member of the Spanish Delegation, as a representative of the global network of regions for climate change, and as an advisor to the Empresa y Clima Foundation.
