Hannes Matt is a sustainability and sustainable finance specialist with strong expertise in climate‑ and nature‑related risk management, ESG strategy, and regulatory compliance. He has extensive experience advising companies, financial institutions, and climate‑tech startups on ESG integration, scenario analysis, risk assessment, and product and business development.
He previously worked at KPMG Germany, supporting major banks and asset managers in implementing climate and nature risk frameworks and developing quantitative and qualitative assessment methodologies. As an independent advisor, he has guided climate‑tech startups and consulting firms in scaling their products and strategies. At United Sustainability GmbH, he served as Senior Expert and Investment Analyst, contributing to investment strategy, due diligence processes, sustainability compliance (including SFDR), and innovative financial models.
He was a member of the DIN Finance Standards Committee, where he contributed to the development of German and European (ISO) standards in sustainable finance. He is also co‑founder of multiple sustainability and ESG‑related initiatives, and collaborates as a fellow and lecturer in sustainable management and ecological economics programs.
He holds a B.A. in Sociology, Politics & Economics from Zeppelin University and an M.A. in Communication in Social and Economic Contexts from the Berlin University of the Arts, where his thesis was published by Springer Nature.
