Dr. Soumya Sarkar

Assistant Professor of Electronics at the University of Southampton

Dr. Soumya Sarkar is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Electronics and Deputy Director of the Centre for Neuromorphic Technologies at the University of Southampton, UK. 

He leads the Materials for Intelligent Nanoelectronic Devices (MINDs) Lab, developing advanced materials and hardware for AI, neuromorphic computing, and sustainable electronics. 

He received his PhD from the National University of Singapore and subsequently moved to the UK as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Cambridge, where he worked on energy-efficient memory technologies and was affiliated with Trinity College Cambridge. His research focuses on enabling sustainable AI hardware through innovations in materials physics, bridging fundamental science with scalable technologies for next-generation computing systems.
