Mr. Eduardo de Miguel

Director of Fundación Global Nature

Eduardo de Miguel is an Agricultural Engineer. His professional experience spans more than 35 years in the field of nature conservation and sustainability. He has been the managing director of Fundación Global Nature since 1998, where he has worked since 1993. In addition, he is a member of the boards of Wetlands International Europe and the global network Living Lakes. He is also president of the Foro de Redes y Entidades de Custodia del Territorio de España.

Fundación Global Nature, established in 1993, is a Spanish non-profit organisation dedicated to the protection of nature and biodiversity. Throughout its more than 32 years of existence, it has invested 18,9 million euros in the recovery of 110 wetlands covering nearly 14.000 hectares in Spain. It has also established an agricultural stewardship network that includes 470 agreements with farmers, covering approximately 25.000 hectares. This initiative promotes agricultural practices that benefit biodiversity and rural sustainability.

Foundation’s work has been recognised with more than 30 national and international awards, including the National Environment Award “Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente” and the Ramsar Award for the Wise Use of Wetlands in 2018.
